Workplace SeminarsFreud was interested in love and work. I am as well. Especially women clients seem stressed about balancing their careers and family. I like doing marriage and family counseling and helping people prevent and heal relational problems. I also like helping people in the workplace. Many mental health disorders become apparent at work, and clients are sent to see me from their supervisors using their employee assistance plan. That process is similar to those sent for anger management after losing their temper and getting into trouble. I can help then, but it makes more sense to prevent problems than spend so much effort cleaning up the mess. The seminars I lead at the workplace have a variety of options for managers. Brown bag lunches are casual, open discussions of a topic. Sometimes there are a series of topics covered in weekly or bimonthly lunch hour meetings. Usually these are optional for employees. In-service trainings can be a few hours or even a few days, done at once, or spread out. Often in-service trainings are mandatory to make certain all of the staff have the opportunity to interact with a presentation. Key-noting and speaking for associations, corporate meetings and judicatories give participants information and inspiration. Employee assistance plans offer leaders options for on-site presentations, training, coaching, and critical incident stress debriefing. Many people spend more of their waking hours at work than at home; therefore, improving relationships there makes good sense.
